Tandoori Nights !!!

Well, after reading that heading you might think that I’m a big fan of Himesh reshamiya. But NO (though I do like few of his songs). The phrase just seemed right for this post !! Life at RAK is very pleasant. Each and everyday is fun, masti and…memorable. But the best memory is the long nights I have spent playing NFS online!!! And then the midnight snacks (tandoori chicken & French fries) and the long chats (accompanied with cheeky one-liners)!! A smile comes on my face when I think about them.
There are various characters in the villa of IAA. And these characters make my day. Lets start with the seniors.

My favourite is Surya. Surya Pratap Singh!! I know…quite a heavy name. suits the guy. He is the sole source of all my trance music (what a gigantic collection he has!!). he’s a jolly good person. Always in a freaked out mood. And he’s got an awesome sense of humour. He simply charges up the atmosphere around him. His style of abusing attracts peals of laughter!! And never play UNO with him. He’s the best cheater in the game!! But altogether, Surya rocks to the core!!

Next, is the hunk of IAA…Abhinav. Man, there’s no way you can ignore this guy. His personality is awesome matched with some great looks. And yeah….. I love the tattoo on his arm…a big OM!! He’s verrryyy helpful. It’s fun having him around you. He’s the head of the students but he’s also the head of all the masti that goes on!!

Now, make way for Saad!! His name should have been ‘Shaanth’ instead of Saad. Coz I rarely hear this guy speak something. He’s this shadow which lurks around. But he’s a tech geek. So if any computer or laptop goes haywire in the villa…Saad is your man!! And yeah…he’s got a very cute smile….that’s when he smiles!!

Then comes Lindsey….the “yo” guy of the group. Chilled & cool. His one liners can give you a stitch in the stomach. And if this guy starts laughing it takes him a hell of a time to stop!! He just goes on laughing!!

Next is Farhan SIR!!! This dude was given the responsibility to teach us about the Cessna 152. It was my 1st aviation class. And thanks to this dude, it simply ROCKED!! Farhan is an awesome teacher. What ever he teaches goes direct into the brain. And he has an awesome physique. One punch of his and you would be soaring high in the sky!!!

Now lets come to my batch….but heyyy!!! Lets leave something for next time!!!!
I’ll be back with some more tandoori….but maybe some other night!!

Reagards to all.

P.S

This is for the 24 hour cafeteria outside the villa…Al Ruwaiis!!
Thanks a lot guys….your tandoori chicken was sooo yummmyyyyy!!
And the French fries was too much…it took all of us to finish it up!! But wateva…Ruwaiis rocks!!!

And this for Farhan……man, yours was the first ever class I attended where it was legal to have snacks and cans of cold drinks!!! And, yeah, the only class where the use of the ‘F’ word was allowed!! (he says it most of the times though!!!)
Cheers guys!!!

The New Start...

it was 2:00 in the morning and I was loitering around the huge international airport terminal. Thanks to the café coffee day inside, I had many cups of espresso. And even a midnight munch from KFC. Was thinking how my new life would be? How will the seniors be? Will things work out good or bad?? Many questions streaming in and out of my mind.
My mind and its thoughts come crashing to planet earth when the announcer tells to board the plane. I go in and find my seat. I stare out the window. Nothing but darkness. And the small lights within this darkness. My flight took off and these lights become more clear. They look like jewels. The symbolize the never sleeping attitude of Mumbai.
Maybe the long night had drained all my energy, coz I didn’t even know when I fell asleep. I got up when the pilot announced that we were descending. I looked out of the window. The scene was awesome. Large areas of sand. And between them, very long highways. Then we passed over the cities. A look over the city told me that I won’t forget Mumbai so easily. Coz from above I could clearly make out the long traffic jam!!
I was a very lucky guy. Usually immigration and other formalities take up a lot of time. But I was out of the airport in a record 12 minutes!!! My uncle was to come to receive me with the people from the academy. I spotted them and after a 2 minute chat we left for the villa in which I was to live. We were living in Ras-Al Khaimah, which was an hours drive from Dubai. The driver was a very friendly chap. The roads reminded me of the Palm Beach road on vashi. Only that the roads in UAE are far more superior!!! We reached Ras-Al khaimah international hotel and just opposite to it was my villa!! The villa was good. It has a swimming pool, gym and is very spacious. But that wasn’t my concern. I cared about the type of people who stayed in the villa.
As most of them had gone to the academy, the villa was mostly empty. I was shown my room. As I had nothing to do till lunch, I started unpacking. After I set my stuff to its respective place, I decided to go for a stroll. The locality was very clean and peaceful. I had to get a new sim card and some more things. So I took a cab to the nearest mall. I have to say something about the cabs. In Mumbai a Toyota Camry meant supreme luxury. But here the Camry’s a taxi!!! Luxurious taxi, I must say!!!
The mall was supposedly a “small” one, but took me an hour and a half to explore it!! after getting the sim, I returned to the villa. I was still empty. I was told that everyone would turn up by lunch.
I returned to my room and was cleaning it here and there. Later I went for lunch and met my seniors. I knew they would be cool, but not so cool!!! They were a merry group. They made me feel at home and were very friendly. After spending 15 minutes with them I understood that I had got a very super-duper group.
After lunch, two guys, Aamir and Broji showed me around the villa. They were very friendly and helpful. They even introduced me to the others people i.e. Laveen, Vikas, Anant, Clyde and others. It was a fun group and I was enjoying every moment. They made me feel very much in the group but I couldn’t help missing my friends.

The new start wasn’t at all as I expected it to be. I expected some ragging and some tough vibes. But here, everyone was staying like a big family. I was missing mum and dad but wasn’t missing out the family feeling. Everyone was friendly and readily came forward to help. The start was good. But it’s not the start or finish that matters. It’s the journey. And I have a long journey ahead.

Regards to all.

P.S.

Miss all my buddies dearly……luv ya ppl. I really wish u all were with me.
Loadzzz of hugs n luv ya all….

The Final Farewell

Soon after my birthday ended, I decided to give all my friends a farewell treat. Calling all of them together would b a tedious job. so I treated them in groups. First I met tulika, swati and pratichi. Tullika got me a DJ headphone set and a tshirt for birthday.
She wasn’t well at all. Still she made an effort to come and see me. All of us munched at McDonalds after which they left. In the evening I met souj n others.
I caught up with bugs after that. Ohhkkkay…..1st I gotta tell something about bugs and me. We are friends for the past 5 years and since then we have been fighting. We argue about everything and anything. It’s a 24/7 war!!! We love pulling each others leg. Anybody would bet that we hate each other to the core. But that’s where everybody go wrong!!!! We care a lot for each other (though we don’t show it!!).
So, I took bugs to Pot Pouri for a treat (she wanted to go to ‘not just jazz by the bay’…but I don’t think she deserves such a lavish treat!!! LOL!! Kiddin ya…).
We were munching on something, when bugs told me that she had made a card for me. It made me choke on my food. C’mon man……bugs making something like that for someone is like saying that James Bond is virgin!!! I know that I’m her best buddy, but still it was unexpected. It really made me happy. The card was really beautiful. It had the pictures of all my friends a nice note. And the best part was that she made it herself. For the 1st time, I realized how much I mean to her….how much I mean to all my friends…and how much they mean to me.
The next day I went for the movie “fashion” with some friends and then to ‘ice n spice’. Again the realization dawned on me that I wouldn’t be seeing these people for a long time. On Friday I met manu. Manu was my best buddy. He was an all-rounder. Excellent in studies and mind-blowing in sports. It was due to him that my days in D.A.V were so enjoyable. We were talking about how things would be different when I would go. Swati and Souj dropped by in sometime and we started hogging!!! We were walking around the mall when I spotted this awesome Che Guverra tshirt. I just said that it was a cool tee and within seconds Swati dragged me in and bought it for me. Gosh!! Sometimes leaving your near and dear ones can be quite profitable!!!

Finally Saturday came!!! The ‘D’ day. I was to leave at midnight. I had a mountain of work in front of me. I was gonna meet al my friends one last time but that plan got screwed. I had got some cards for some friends and I was determined that they get it. But again, I didn’t have the time. So, I gave all the cards to tulika and kritika (I hope you both delivered the cards or else a good flogging awaits you both). It was a busy afternoon and evening. By night time, the mood at home was quite gloomy. Friends were calling in to say bye. Some were even crying!!! (guys I am NOT dead!!!). ishan and manu came over to my place. Thanks to ishan, the mood in the house improved. Midnight approached and it was time to leave. After the final goodbyes we left for the airport. Mum was strong. She had promised that she wouldn’t cry and she had kept her word. While checking in I didn’t look back. No final glances. No final waving. I didn’t want to break down.

I was sitting inside the airport and there was still 2 hours for my flight. I started thinking about my last week in Mumbai. In short, it was very memorable and will remain etched in my heart and mind. My birthday was very special. The farewell parties were very special. The final letters and cards that I got were very special. Every moment was very special. I never knew I was so dear to so many people. Now I know what I mean to them. It was a strange feeling. A sort of a void inside you.
I also realized what some people mean to me and how their absence would affect me. I couldn’t tell them. Maybe I didn’t want to tell them. It was a silent fact that would never change. But now I would like to say. This maybe silly, but I don’t care. I just wanna do it. This is a song I heard in the movie ‘rock on’ and its very close to my heart. I would like to dedicate it to all my friends.

Tulika, bugs, souj, manu, swati, ishan, vardan, krits, isha, snigdha, pooja, adi, neeraj, durwa, chintu, nikita, prateek and every one……this is for you….

Tum ho toh, gata hai dil.
Tum nahi, toh geet kaha??
Tum ho toh, hai sab haasil.
Tum nahi, toh kya hai yahaan??

Tum ho toh hai, sapno ke jaisa haseen, ek samaah…..

Joh tum ho toh, yeh lagta hai, ke mil gayi har khushi..
Jo tum na ho, yeh lagta hai, ke har khushi mein hai kammi..
Tumko hai maangti….yeh zindagieeeeeee!!

Tum ho toh, rahen bhi hai.
Tum nahi, toh rasten kaha??
Tum ho toh, yahaan sab hi hai,
Tum nahi, toh kaun yahaan??

Tum ho toh hai, hare ek pal meherbaan, yeh jahaan…..

Joh tum ho toh, hava mein bhi mohobaton ka rang hai…
Joh tum na ho, to phir koi na josh na umang hai…
Tum mile to mili….yeh zindagieeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Love you all from the bottom of my heart…..and I’m gonna miss you people terribly.
Chal guys…gotta go….my flight is boarding….will write in further when I reach there.

Regards.

P.S –
This is for the Airport Authority of India…..please change your flight announcer. She is soooooooo shrill !!! my ears were paining when she announced my flight!! *wink*

The Big Birthday!!!

days are passing by. i want to make the most out of each day. i always plan my birthday in a big way. and every time I feel something is amiss. Maybe a friend didn’t come, or the restaurant wasn’t cool and so on. This time I felt I should spend some time with family and some time alone. But again, this plan didn’t work out!!!! The full details are given below-

November 1

Mum and I went for shopping today. it was for the1st time in my life that I blew 50000 bucks in a span of two days!!! I wont forget the look mum gave me when she signed the credit card slip!!! Dad gave me a new laptop for birthday. In short, I was content with the gifts I received. But the real gift was yet to come…

November 2

12:00 am
Understood the real meaning of the phrase “ being flooded with phone calls”!!!
Received more than fifty calls. My ear went all hot and red by the time the calls ended. But personally speaking, I felt very happy that so many people had taken the pains to remain awake till midnight to wish me. After the usual “happy birthday” calls, I spent at least an hour talking to my 2 close friends- Manu & Tulika. We were talking that how things would be different after I leave. Tulika was telling me how happy she was ‘coz I was pursuing my dream. But I know, that at the same time, she was wiping tears. Manu got very emotional and it took all my might to stop my eyes from welling up.

2:00 pm
Was enjoying a yummy-yummy meal with parents and some family friends. Suddenly I get a call from Isha (my best buddy). She wanted to meet me. I told her that I would catch her at a coffee shop within 15 minutes. After some starters, I told mum that I would be back in an hour, jumped behind the wheel and rushed off. All this time I didn’t suspect or even get a hint of what was going to happen ahead. I spotted Isha outside the coffee shop. after a quick hug, we walk into Cross Café. Suddenly…

BANG-BANG BOOM-BOOM!!!!
All my friends appear, screaming “Happy Birthday” on top of their lungs. It took a whole minute to let that moment sink in. my friends- kritika, snigdha, pooja, isha, ishan, aditya & neeraj- had made a fool-proof plan to give me a surprise bash. And they were very much successful!!! After the party, I and ishan were returning home. He asked me if I liked the surprise. My smile was enough to answer his question.

Honestly speaking, this was one of the best birthdays I had. I was really touched. This is one memory that will always bring a smile on my face. I would like to say a big thanks to all my friends. It was the biggest gift they could give me. Luv you all!!!
But I have only one complaint. Its for God-

Dear God,
Why don’t MY plans ever work out the way I want!!!! :P

The day to say ‘adios’ is just 6 days away. I just hope I make the best of these 6 days.

Regards to all.

P.S : guys, the cake was really tasty….dark chocolate!!

The Beginning

hello people.......well, this is the 1st time i'm writing a blog. I am from Mumbai. Basically, i am a pilot in the making. I am going to Dubai for my pilot training. Honestly speaking, the day my visa arrived, i had mixed feelings about it. i was happy 'coz my dream was finally coming true. And sad, 'coz i was separating from many near 'n' dear ones. There are so many friends who i love dearly. It usually happens, dat while separating. you make many promises of keeping in touch. But this simply does'nt work out. It has happened with me before. And i don't want to repeat that mistake. Again, calling all my friends and telling them about my well-being is boring!!! Thats when the idea of creating a blog flashed in my brain. I had heard about blogs but never knew what they are about. A quick 'Googling' sufficed to enlighten my knowledge about blogs. so here i am, writing my 1st blog!!! This is mainly to keep in touch with friends and tell them my experiences. And this is for all the people who would like to know about the experiences of a guy and his journey to become a pilot. This is my journey to the blue sky.....
journey starts on 9th November 2008!!!
regards to all..
